Repurposed Electric Railway Carriage in Barranco
This is a repurposed train carriage, located in Barranco, Lima. Formerly a part of the "Ferrocarril Eléctrico" (Electric Railway), it now serves as a cultural space called "Espacio del Conocimiento" (Knowledge Space). The vibrant mural on its exterior, painted by urban artists, depicts abstract faces and hands, symbolizing knowledge and community. This particular carriage was part of a line connecting Lima to Callao and Chorrillos, operating in the early 20th century. Barranco, known for its bohemian atmosphere and street art, often integrates such historical elements into its contemporary urban landscape. This adaptive reuse highlights the area's commitment to art and educational initiatives.
