Huaca Huallamarca Adobe Pyramid

This is the Huaca Huallamarca, an ancient pre-Columbian pyramid in Lima, Peru. Built by the Lima culture around 200 AD, it served as a ceremonial and administrative center. Its most striking feature is the construction technique: millions of handmade adobe bricks, laid like books on a bookshelf, creating a strong, earthquake-resistant structure. Later, the Wari culture and Ychsma culture also used the site, with evidence of tombs and smaller structures. The surrounding modern city of San Isidro grew around and even over parts of it.
