Lima Culture Animal-Effigy Cántaro
This ceramic **cántaro escultórico** (sculptural pitcher) from the **Lima culture** is a funerary offering, likely dating from 200-600 AD. Lima culture pottery often features interlocking geometric patterns in red, white, and black. This design, with the vessel on the back of an animal, was common for ritualistic purposes, often containing offerings for the deceased. Such vessels are typical finds in burial sites and **huacas** (ancient ceremonial centers) around Lima.
